Description

Panoramic view of the village of Chamonix surrounded by snow-capped mountains and a glacier, with scattered houses below. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated August 16, 1940, sent from Fayet (Haute-Savoie) to Troyes (Aube), mentioning a walk at an altitude of 2,525 meters. A 12-centime postage stamp and a postmark from Fayet dated August 18, 1940.
