Description

Illustration showing a man in chains wearing an iron mask, sitting in a stone cell. Printed text at the bottom: 'The Man in the Iron Mask, the great historical enigma, spent a few days in cell n. 3 before being transferred to the Îles Sainte Marguerite and was accompanied by Mr. de Saint Mars, governor of the Bastille.' Two stamps of 65c and 20c from 1937, canceled, are affixed at the top right, with a postmark 'PARIS 14'.
