View of La Rue de l'Échelle in Constantine, with residents sitting on the steps of a stone staircase, in a narrow street flanked by white buildings. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated April 1st, 1914, addressed to 'Miss Hélène', with a 10-centime stamp of the Algerian Republic (1904) and a postmark.
