Description

Statue of Margaret of Anjou in Angers, with a biographical inscription at the bottom: 'Daughter of René of Anjou and Elisabeth of Lorraine, born in Pont-d'Ouison on March 23, 1429. In March 1445, she married King of England, Henry IV, in Nancy, seeing him for the first time on May 28, making her solemn entry into London, to be crowned on the 30th at Westminster. Beautiful and graceful, ardent and resolute, the English possessed nothing in France ten years later. She died in Dampierre on August 20, 1482.'
