View of the Roman Theatre in Arles, of which only part of the outer enclosure, steps, and two decorated marble columns at the back of the stage remain. Printed text on the front indicates that the theatre, with a diameter of 163 meters, could hold 15,000 spectators and was destroyed under the episcopate of Saint-Hilaire around 446. Reverse: handwritten address to Madame Valentin in Marseille, green obliterated stamp 'ARLES' and postal office stamp 'ARLES 26 10 1904'.
