View of the Republic Gate in Avignon, opened in 1863 under the name Napoleon Gate, serving as the main entrance to the city and access to the station. On the reverse, a handwritten letter addressed to Madame Louis Couteneu in Martigues, with two green 5-centime stamps and a cancellation mark from Marseillan.
