Description

View of the main façade of the Palais des Papes in Avignon, with the Tour Campanaire in the foreground. The printed text explains that the part closest to the cathedral was built under Pope John XXII (1315) and Pope Benedict XII (1335–1342), and that Pope Clement VI continued the work. On the reverse, the lines of correspondence and the publisher's stamp, Librairie D'Orbourg, Paris, are visible.
