Description

Postcard showing the large side-wheel steamboat Greater Detroit, moored at the dock. The reverse details its history: built in Lorain, Ohio in 1924, it was converted into the aircraft carrier USS Sable during the war, then became a large cruise ship before being scrapped in 1950. Text by Edward O. Clark.
