Illustrated postcard depicting the French destroyer VOLTA, armed with 8 138 mm cannons and 10 torpedo tubes, participating in the Battle of Mers-el-Kébir. The illustration shows a giant representing Volta holding an electric battery above the ship. On the reverse, a legend recalls that Volta (1745–1827) was the physicist famous for his studies on electricity. The postcard bears the stamp 'Collection J.P.H.' and is dated 1927.
