Description

Two large steamers from New Brighton compete in a race on a rough sea, with passengers visible on the decks. The printed text at the top of the card reads "New Brighton Boats, 'A Race.'". On the reverse, a handwritten letter in French is addressed to Madame M. Boissieu in Campagne-la-Marguerite, with three 5-centime green stamps and a Marseille postmark dated May 25, 1897.
