View of the Quai aux Herbes in Ghent, showing several historic buildings: the House of the Free Boatmen (1531, floral Gothic style), the House of the Grain Measurers (1698, with 22 windows), and the Tonlieu Cottage (1682, Gothic style) serving as an office to collect dues. The old Step House (Roman style, 1200) is also visible. The reverse indicates the photograph by F. Walschaerts, Brussels, and bears a collector's postmark.
