Description

View of the Theatre in Besançon, a neoclassical building constructed from 1778 to 1784 according to the plans of architect Ledoux and inaugurated in 1784. Printed text on the front indicates the inauguration date and the presence of the Prince of Condé. On the reverse, a handwritten letter addressed to Mrs. Auguste Bauld in Dijon, with a return address to Besançon. French Republic 10-centime postmark, cancelled in Doubs on December 18, 1908.
