Description

Postcard illustrating the astronomical clock of Besançon, commissioned by Cardinal Mathieu, designed by M. Vérité and executed by M. Florian Goudey. The clock, 5m80 high and composed of 72 dials, contains 30,000 mechanical parts. The reverse side features a handwritten letter addressed to Madame Meyer in La Garonne, with a 65-centime postage stamp and a cancellation mark from Haut-Rhin.
