Description

Illustration of the astronomical clock of Besançon, commissioned by Cardinal Mathieu, started in March 1858 and completed in August 1860, composed of 30,000 mechanical parts and measuring 5m80 in height. The reverse indicates the publisher Ch. Grardot & Cie in Besançon, a handwritten address 'Besançon' and a blue circular postmark 'Souvenir Besançon'.
