Description

Black and white engraved portrait of Blanche of Castile, crowned and wearing a robe adorned with lilies. The printed text at the bottom details her life: born in 1187, daughter of Alphonse IX, wife of Louis VIII, regent during the minority of her son, mother of Saint Louis, and died in Melun in 1252. The reverse is blank, with a publisher's mark 'J.N.D. Hot.' at the bottom right and the serial number '241' at the bottom left.
