View of a stone bridge with a single arch crossing a rocky canyon, with a river below. Printed text at the bottom: 'Brienccon - Pont Aifeld or du Diable, on the Durance. A reign of Louis XV this bridge of 120 feet span, raised 100 feet above the river, was built by order of Marshal d'Asson, general of the King's armies, Knight of the Golden Fleece, General Director of Fortifications, in 1733.' Reverse: handwritten text dated 9 November 1915, addressed to 'my wife Félicité' at 'Wailton, Hérault', with a postmark and cancellation.
