Black and white view of the City of Carcassonne, showing the ascent to the Aude Gate on the north side, with its medieval ramparts and towers. The printed text on the front indicates the location and the serial number 59. The reverse bears a handwritten address to Périgueux, a French 20-centime postage stamp, and a cancellation from Carcassonne dated 28 July 1938.
