Colorized view of the medieval walls of Carcassonne, with the Gate of Aude and conical towers in the foreground. The back has a handwritten address to Mme Eugène Piletan in Pahat, a French 1946 postage stamp, and a Carcassonne cancellation dated August 23, 1946.
