Stone statue of the Virgin Mary sitting on a throne, holding the Child Jesus, located in the Cathedral of Chartres. Printed text at the top: '84 - Cathedral of CHARTRES' and 'Notre-Dame-sous-Terre-ND'. At the bottom of the statue: 'VIRGINI PAPITURA'. Reverse: French postage stamp of 20 centimes, cancellation from Strasbourg dated 27 May 1939, handwritten address to 'Madame J. Cherchevelle, Paris', and publisher's signature 'R.-a. Photo C. P. Strasbourg'.
