View of the Chassiron Lighthouse on the island of Oléron, begun in 1833 and completed in 1836, with a height of 44 meters and acetylene gas lighting. In the foreground, a few people and a vehicle are visible near the entrance to the lighthouse. The reverse side is blank, with only the inscription 'Postcard'.
