View of the new spire of Chartres Cathedral, with printed text describing its history: begun in 1154, interrupted by a fire in 1194, resumed in 1500 and completed in 1513, with a bronze cross placed in 1854. Reverse: 15-centime postage stamp, Chartres (Aube-et-Loire) dispatch cancellation of 18 May 1931, and the inscription 'CARTE POSTALE' at the top.
