Panoramic view of Chartres filtered through a Gothic opening in the bell tower of the cathedral. Printed text at the bottom: 'CHARTRES. — View taken from the Bell Tower of the Cathedral'. On the reverse, handwritten correspondence addressed to Mme Alexis in Barruelo, Spain, with note 'All foreign countries do not accept correspondence on the front'. French postal stamp of 10 centimes obliterated.
