View of the ruins of Pierrefonds Castle, with its partially collapsed towers and ramparts overlooking a village. Printed text at the bottom: 'Built in 1390 — the Restoration was undertaken in 1858 by Violet le Duc — LL'. Reverse: French 25-centime postmark, Pierrefonds cancellation of 28 June 1928, handwritten address to Paul Bouquetot in Brioune, and publisher note 'C° DES ARTS PHOTOGRAPHIQUES - STRASBOURG-SCHILTIGHEIM'.
