Description

Colored view of the Fort of Joux, an ancient castle and former prison, located near Pontarlier (Doubs). The printed text relates its history: built in the 10th century, it was used by the Lords of Joux, and later held prisoners such as Toussaint Louverture (1776) and Mirabeau (1808). The back has a handwritten letter dated September 19, 1947, addressed to 'mon petit Robert chéri' by 'Valérie Elane'.
