Engraved illustration by Gustave Doré depicting starving and thirsty crusaders rushing toward a water source among rocks. Printed text at the bottom: « Often the crusaders, pressed by thirst, were reduced to chewing roots. It was a real rush toward the beneficial water when, by luck, a spring was discovered in the hollow of the rocks. » Reverse: printed text stating that « Not all foreign countries accept correspondence on the front » and mentioning « POSTCARD » with areas for correspondence and address.
