View of Montagne du Roule in Cherbourg with an imposing rocky spur and a castle in the background. Four people are visible at the base of the mountain, near a bench. The back shows a handwritten letter addressed to Mrs. and Mr. Politjean in Chatenay, with a postmark from Cherbourg dated July 11, 1914, and two French postage stamps (5c and 10c).
