View of the ruined castle of Chinon on a hill, with the town and the Loire below. Printed text on the front recalls historical events: Henry II of England died there in 1189, Richard the Lionheart was there in 1199, Philip VI came there in 1205, Charles VII established his court there in 1429, Louis XI lived there, Agnes Sorel came there in 1560, and Catherine de' Medici came there in 1560. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated September 46, 1920 to Mayence, addressed to 'Chérie Adéon', mentioning travel plans and family news.
