Description

Stone statue of Sainte-Marthe, sister of Sainte-Madeleine, in a church in Meilly and Rouvres, dating from the late 15th century. She is depicted standing, hands joined in prayer, with a monster at her feet. The reverse indicates it is a Burgundian work, and that the inhabitants of Tarascon believe she delivered the region from a monster. 5-cent postage stamp and postmark of VITTEAU (Côte-d'Or) dated September 15, 1920.
