The text « Happy New Year » is printed at the top and bottom of the image, and in calligraphy at the bottom left. On the reverse, handwritten script addresses « Sincere wishes from her friend » to « Mademoiselle S. Serouys, 16 Ter rue Loyset, Cherbourg », with a green French Republic stamp and a Cherbourg postmark from 17 December 1912.
