Two young women in traditional costumes, one sitting on a pile of straw, the other behind her, in a rural setting. The reverse has a handwritten letter addressed to Mlle Renée Mercard in Sériéfontaine, with a birthday note and signature of 'Governess Drienne'. French Republic postage stamp with cancellation 'COE' and number 509.
