Description

New Year's greeting postcard with a hand-painted red and green rose on the front. The back features the inscription 'Bonne Année' in ornate letters, followed by a poem: 'Rose, Queen of Flowers / Rose, my beloved interpreter. / To wish happiness / On this day of the new year.' The address is directed to 'Madeline Sauleau, at her father's home, a schoolteacher, in Épinal, Vosges.' A French 10-centime postage stamp is affixed at the lower right.
