Black and white photograph of a peasant woman from Auvergne sitting on the ground in front of a wooden and stone door, holding a stick. The back has handwritten correspondence dated 1914, sent from Paris, describing a soldier on leave in a small village and mentioning a magnificent peasant woman. The postmark and cancellation are visible at the bottom right.
