Description

View of the entrance to the Cave of the Brigands in the Forest of Fontainebleau, with rocks and a wooden bridge. Printed text recalls that under Louis XV, this underground passage sheltered a band of brigands who robbed travelers on the road to Paris. Reverse: handwritten address to Madame Chèmer, Paris, with postage stamp and postmark from Brignan (9 June 1914); note 'Correspondence cannot be returned to the post office' and 'For foreigners' visible.
