View of the central stone in the Armistice Clearing at Compiègne, engraved with the inscription: 'HERE ON 11 NOVEMBER 1918 THE CRIMINAL PRIDE OF THE GERMAN EMPIRE WAS DEFEATED BY THE FREE PEOPLES WHERE IT CLAIMED TO SUBJUGATE'. The reverse indicates the edition by the Clairière de Compiègne Bookstore.
