View of the Fort de Douaumont, with its rocky cliffs and earth paths, illustrating its masonry construction of rubble stones and its concrete shell covering. The reverse details its history: built in 1886, occupied by surprise on 25 February 1916 by the 21st Division « La Gauloise » commanded by General Passaga, who planted the French flag on the ruins. Stamp and postmark from the Douaumont Ossuary (Meuse) are present.
