Description

View of Fort de Souville, a fortified structure on rugged terrain, with an arched entrance and wooden structures. The reverse indicates it was bombed on June 15, 1916, then attacked on June 23, and that unsuccessful assaults were carried out on July 11 and 12, 1916. The publisher is Hélio-Lorraine, Nancy, and the stamp is a circular postmark 'OSSUAIRE de DOUAUMONT (Meuse)'.
