Description

View of Fort de Vaux, built between 1881 and 1884 with rubble masonry and covered with concrete from 1888. Printed text on the reverse recalls its capture by the Germans on June 8–9, 1916, and its recapture on November 2, 1916, by the Nancy Army. Postmark canceled with a stamp from the Douaumont Ossuary (Meuse).
