Description

Detailed illustration of the St-Jean clock in Besançon, commissioned by Cardinal Mathieu, designed by M. Vérité de Beauvais and executed by M. Florian Goudey, measuring 5m80 in height and composed of 72 dials. Printed text at the bottom specifies the start date (March 1858) and completion date (August 1860) of its construction. Back: handwritten correspondence dated January 1918, addressed to T. Horkoya, with postmark and stamp 'SOUVENIR DE BESANÇON'.
