Description

Satirical postcard from World War I showing a small sailor in uniform, wearing a cap with the inscription 'IS BRITANNIA', hiding behind a large cannonball. The printed text in English and French asks the question: 'Aint I never goin' to have a chance of 'killin' a Hun ?' / 'Quand aurai-je aussi la chance de tuer un Boche ?'. On the reverse, a handwritten French message addresses the card to 'Chers frères' with a note: 'Venez m'attendre au premier train (Cheures)' and the signature 'Janette'.
