View of the Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in Commercy, with an ornate kiosk in the foreground and the town hall in the background, whose façade bears the inscription 'HÔTEL DE VILLE'. On the reverse, a handwritten letter addressed to a 'Dear father' and signed 'Michel Salnit', with a mention of 'the Boches having passed by' and 'Big kisses'.
