Black and white view of the medieval city of Carcassonne, highlighting the Tower of the Vade with its characteristic conical towers. Printed text at the bottom: 'THE CITY OF CARCASSONNE - Tower of the Vade'. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated 15 July, addressed to 'Monsieur et Madame Lefebvre' in Houleydiers (Dordogne), with a 50-centime French postage stamp and a postmark 'AUBE' at the bottom right.
