Black and white view of a funicular in Langres, with a train on a sloped track, surrounded by vineyards and forests. Printed text at the bottom: 'LANGRES. — La Crémaille. — The cable railway.' The publisher JND Phot. is visible at the bottom right. The reverse shows a handwritten letter addressed to Madame Guilleman in Paris, with a 10-centime postage stamp and a postmark from VAILLANT (Marne) dated 13-6-1845.
