View of the Arden Gate in Laon, a fortified gate from the 13th century with two round towers and an arched passage, bordered by old buildings and a few passersby. On the reverse, handwritten text addressed to 'dear Gilberte' with a greeting and a mention of their arrival, as well as the publisher J. Bourgogne, publisher in Château-Thierry.
