Description

Postcard depicting the Château d'Ussé in the valley of the Indre, on a steep hillside, with its conical towers and austere architecture. The reverse details its history: built in the 15th century, it was almost entirely rebuilt in the 16th century, expanded in the 17th century by a member of the Valentinay family, the wife of the daughter of Vauban, and equipped with a Renaissance terrace around 1530. The castle is private and not open to the public.
