Description

Black and white illustration of a man in armor with an iron mask sitting in a dark cell, with a barred window in the background. The printed text indicates that this is cell No. 3, the largest, where the man in the iron mask, the 'great historical enigma', spent a few days in 1686 before being transferred to the Sainte-Marguerite Islands, accompanied by the governor of the Bastille, M. de Saint Mars. The reverse is blank, with the typical areas for correspondence and address on a postcard.
