Description

View of the cloister of Mont-Saint-Michel from the 13th century, with its polished pink granite columns arranged in a quincunx around the central area. Printed text indicates its construction began in 1225 by Thomas des Chambres and completed in 1228–1237 by Raoul de Villedieu. Reverse: 25-centime French postage stamp, postmark from 'METZ' dated 29, handwritten address to Madame Henri Barbeau in Le Mans, and sender's signature.
