Description

Eastern view of the Pont du Gard, showing its imposing three-level arch structure, with the Salpêtrière cave and the valley of St-Privat in the background. The reverse details its history: 41 km Roman aqueduct built in 19 BCE, destroyed by the Visigoths in 412–418, and mentions the publisher Labourel. Printed text at the bottom of the front describes the viewpoint and location.
