Description

Eastern view of the Pont du Gard, on the right bank of the Gardon, with the Salpêtrière Cave in the background. Printed text describes the structure as a 41 km Roman aqueduct, destroyed by the Visigoths. Reverse: printed text on the history of the bridge, handwritten address to Mme Légal in Lyon, French postage stamp 15c, cancellation 'REIMS 9-6-1916'.
