Description

View of the western end of the aqueduct of Pont du Gard, with the staircase added in 1855 allowing access to the last step. The back details the monument as a colossal fragment of aqueduct, 41 km long, built in 19 BC to channel the sources of the Eure to Nîmes, and mentions its destruction by the Visigoths in 412–418. Printed text of the publisher E. Mond'Rel.
