Black and white view of a fortified gateway with two round towers, framing a street leading to a church. Printed text at the bottom: 'LE VIEUX COMPIÈGNE. — SAINT-JEAN AUX BOIS'. On the reverse, a green 5-centime stamp of the French Republic, handwritten text 'Thank you, all is well' and signature, dated '160' (probably 1916).
